About the job

Twilio is growing rapidly. To keep pace with evolving communication channels we are looking for a Software Engineer to build the future of conversational messaging as part of the Advanced Communications Platform.  We’re passionate about designing, developing, deploying and operating software solutions at scale and want to help Twilio deliver the best user experience for next-generation communications. Working side-by-side with other engineers and partnering with our product team, you will collaborate to craft and deliver on the vision and roadmap for Advanced Communications at Twilio.

We are looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer who lives our Twilio Magic to join our exceptionally talented and rapidly growing engineering team. As a Tech Lead, Staff Software Engineer, you will design, architect, and build core platform services, REST APIs and help transition our platform to next-generation architecture. You will work closely with your Engineering Manager and Product Manager to build the roadmap and deliver on quarterly commitments while being a technical mentor to other engineers on the team.

They also have:

  • 7+ years of work experience building highly scalable products
  • Strong experience with Java, Golang or Scala
  • Experience with Linux and Docker
  • Experience troubleshooting and performance tuning relational databases such as MySQL, Aurora or cloud NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, CosmosDB
  • Understanding of AWS infrastructure & services or similar public cloud providers
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Chef
  • Strong experience building scalable software including distributed systems infrastructure, business logic for APIs or tooling to help debug mission-critical applications
  • Excellent experience debugging and scaling production infrastructure and services
  • Clear written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to mentor other engineers and direct positive incomes without direct authority
  • Self-drive – a tenacity for learning and you take ownership of your tasks and drive them to completion
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience

Champion meticulous, high quality engineering and be a role model for software development habits and practices for distributed systems.
  • EMPOWER OTHERS: Interact extensively across all functional teams within Twilio and encourage collaborative solutions.
  • NO SHENANIGANS: Ensure the consistent exercise of appropriate judgment and transparency in all your communications and interactions. Use your advanced engineering, communication and organizational skills to ensure we deliver what the business wants and needs.

Location 

This role will be remote in Colombia.
