Join the team as our next Director of Developer Education!

Who we are & why we’re hiring

Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences!

Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we're on a journey to becoming a globally antiracist company that supports diversity, equity & inclusion wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we're looking for more builders, creators, and innovators to help fuel our growth momentum.

About the job

This position is needed to build the future of Twilio’s Developer Education organization. You will own the team charged with building and scaling Twilio’s developer documentation, the lifeblood of our self-service business. You and your leadership team will treat documentation like the critical product that it is. You will design and complete an ambitious roadmap that will continue to position Twilio as a leader in developer experience and technical documentation. You will create relationships and processes with Twilio product teams, helping developers get the most out of Twilio technology. And while you will remain focused on docs, you will have the freedom and flexibility to pursue other opportunities that you identify in developer tooling and new media. If it can help developers learn and become successful using Twilio, it’s within your mandate to try it out!

In this role, you will:

  • Create a strategy and product roadmap for our documentation work, and define measurements that will help us understand how that strategy is working.
  • Regularly report to internal partners on the progress of our documentation efforts, using data and stories from developers to illustrate.
  • Mentor a dedicated team of front line managers, and ensure all the Developer Education teams are aligned and completing our documentation roadmap.
  • Guide the engineering team behind our publishing platform to ensure our tools are scaling with the needs of the team, and that we are continuing to innovate and improve in developer experience.
  • Stay on top of industry trends in developer experience and documentation, and ensure our work incorporates those takeaways and best practices.
  • Identify common roadblocks across teams, and create systems and processes that will help our teams work better together.
  • Create an inclusive culture where our Developer Educators can do the best work of their careers.
  • Cultivate great relationships with Twilio product teams, and ensure that the Developer Education team can stay in sync with and deeply embedded in the product development lifecycle.

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!
