About the team

The Financial Partnerships team is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and executing partnerships with financial institutions and card networks. These relationships provide Stripe users with best in class financial infrastructure and to enable Stripe’s expansion into new geographies and areas of business. Today, Stripe is live in 42+ markets and the Partnerships team is situated across multiple global offices to support Stripe’s growth around the world. 

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Strategic Business Development Manager for Stripe’s Financial Partnerships team. You will be responsible for executing partnerships in support of Stripe’s Financial Connections business ( You will focus on first of kind relationships with existing Stripe’s partners, as well as highly impactful programs key to differentiating Stripe. As part of these efforts, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders (including Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Risk, etc.), and with external partners’ executives.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to identify key decision makers, propose deal structures that motivate the partner; think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges; as well as earn trust with and influence others. A strong sense of ownership, resilience, drive to have an impact, and entrepreneurial spirit are musts.


  • Leverage industry knowledge to craft thoughtful partnership and product strategies for Financial Connections
  • Gather inputs from and coordinate with internal cross-functional stakeholders (including risk, compliance, product, engineering, security) on creation and execution of partner strategy
  • Identify and effectively analyze new partnership opportunities for Stripe, ultimately making recommendations to relevant decision makers and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Navigate banks and issuers to execute deals supporting that strategy and help ensure proper execution plan in place
  • Identify external stakeholders that will champion Stripe, educate them about Stripe’s value proposition, understand their needs, and execute deals that address those needs and support our strategy
  • Lead negotiations with partners to enable new product launches or support new business strategies

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in partnerships, business development or corporate development
  • 5+ years of partnerships experience working at or with financial data aggregators, financial data APIs, and financial institutions

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience developing partnership strategy and identifying, sourcing, and analyzing new partnership opportunities
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience independently leading negotiations 
  • Broad and deep experience executing industry-wide partnership strategies to build innovative product experiences and go to market models with banking partners / large technology partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience reviewing legal documents
  • Track record of success working effectively and independently across functions to deliver against deadlines 
  • Strong analytical skills with experience analyzing and synthesizing data to make decisions and influence stakeholders
  • An operationally focused mindset, with an ability to see a deal through to success, far beyond signing, leading teams through execution
