Summer Internship, Legal Analyst in Global Rights and Clearance

We are looking for a driven and self-motivated Summer Intern to provide legal analysis and support for the Global Rights and Clearance Team. The Global Rights and Clearance team is responsible for managing and administering Spotify’s clearance needs (music, interview clips, archival, logos, names, likeness, etc.) for various types of content consumed on and off the Spotify Platform. This includes both large scale and individual licenses for third-party live and on-demand content (such as music videos, live performances, live broadcast, interviews, and performance footage) as well as Spotify live and on-demand original content (such as original videos and podcasts). Above all,  your work will impact the way the world experiences music.


What you’ll do


  • Review existing agreements across the company to create a comprehensive overview of all of Spotify’s rights grants with respect to third party content
  • Find opportunities for improvements in our existing agreements and agreement templates
  • Assist in researching rights holders as well as reviewing and drafting licenses for our clearance process

    Who you are


  • A current graduate student pursuing a degree in Law/Legal Studies and planning to graduate in 2023
  • You currently have valid work authorization to work in the country in which this role is based that will extend from June to August 2022
  • You have an understanding and/or working knowledge of the digital music rights landscape
  • You have strong communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • You have a proven track record in collaborating with others
  • You are a creative problem solver with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • You are a highly self-motivated individual with the ability to manage your work independently
  • You are excited by the ever-changing landscape of technology and have the ability to adjust and adapt 
  • Ideally, you have some experience in drafting and reviewing content licenses

    Our paid summer internships last for 10-13 weeks and start at the beginning of June. The last day to apply is February 2, 2022, at 4:59 PM EST.
