Sound Up is Spotify’s podcast training program that aims to raise up the next generation of podcasters from underserved communities through education, workshops, and support. Since our 2018 launch, we’ve created a space for new voices, stories, and perspectives in podcasting.  

We’re looking for a manager with a strong work ethic,  highly organized and self-directed. As a Sound Up employee you’ll be expected to handle logistical and organizational tasks, while contributing to the growth of the program. We’re a small team, so there’s a lot of opportunity for growth, and your contributions will make a tangible impact on the program and the creators we serve.  Successful candidates will be excited to learn new things, tenacious and enthusiastic about joining a close-knit team doing ambitious work.

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Take lead on running Sound Up program in several of our markets a year, including onboarding new markets and upscaling the programs in countries that have done Sound Up previously
  • Onboard new markets, orient them to the program, cover all workstreams, responsibilities, deadlines, and tenets of the program. Conveying the core  messaging, values, and guiding principles of Sound Up
  • Project manage each workshop through initial stakeholder selection, application launch, marketing & pr, cohort interviews and selection, facilitator, judge, and speaker selection, event planning and coordination, curriculum finalization, and budgeting 
  • Work closely with the grant recipients as an executive producer to produce series resulting from the program, serving as Executive Producer on all Sound Up podcasts
  • Work closely with brands to ensure needs are met throughout the program
  • Act as a key internal advocate, bringing in expertise from around the company to contribute to and grow the program and think about pilot programs and markets
  • Structure and implement new/pilot Sound Up branded programs 
  • Including working with youth and other communities, formatting the program for their unique needs, and offering new test programs (based on fiction or other genres, ect)
  • Work with markets on a “soft launch” for Sound Up – work to establish presence and voice in those markets in the time leading up to inaugural programs 
  • Create new programs post-week for alumni – both virtual and in person workshops and summits to offer continuing education and skill development 
  • Work closely with Soundtrap, Anchor, S4P to align with their efforts and communications 
  • Expand our work with partnerships and other internal teams to have visibility and participation from our alumni at conference/event/industry events and activations 
  • Implement event opportunities, speaking slots, tickets, and discounts to alumni
  • Work as part of Sound Up team on annual planning, curriculum, and guideline generation
  • Own production and curation of all video and photo media assets, and coordinating with PR, press team to place in the world, contributing to Spotify’s Share of Voice both in these communities and in podcasting landscape 
  • Oversee global relationship with event vendor from contract through budgeting for all annual markets
