Senior Web/Full Stack Systems Engineer, Sales Operations – Advertising

  • Full Time

Sell what you love. For us and millions of users across the globe, that’s Spotify. Join the Sales team and you’ll build the relationships that help grow our business in existing markets and beyond. We don’t just sell creative solutions to our clients and partners, we help to shape them; using our expert knowledge of ad products, sales channels and the industry to impact the way the world experiences music and podcasts.

At Spotify Advertising, our part of that mission is to build the next generation advertising platform for audio which can scale the freemium experience for hundreds of millions of fans and tens of thousands of advertisers. This scale brings unique challenges as well as tremendous opportunities to define the ads systems products for our business.

We are looking for a Web/Full Stack Engineer to facilitate learning, excellence and delivery within Spotify’s Ads Business Unit. In this role, you will be instrumental in guiding software development to successfully scale and build ad delivery infrastructure tools. You will help us define and materialize our monetization vision to improve the ad experience for our listeners and advertisers alike, and grow our advertising business to be market leader. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead designs of major software components, systems and features.
  • Assume technical ownership of entire projects, systems, applications and services.
  • Partner with team members and product managers to develop a deep understanding of business problems, and translate to architectural and technical decisions.
  • Partner with other platform and web engineering teams to evolve our technology towards Spotify standards and best practices.
  • Work with technologies such as JavaScript (TypeScript, React, Redux and Cycle.js), Java, and BigQuery.
  • Help shape and promote sound engineering practices and software development processes in an agile, iterative environment.
  • Stay abreast of state of the art technology, SaaS and engineering developments. Steer towards good tool and technology choices that both fit the problem at hand and align with long term visions and roadmaps.
  • Work on what you want during regular hack days and annual hack weeks.

    Who You Are

  • You have at least 4+ years of experience delivering solutions using modern web technologies, coding, testing, debugging, and automation techniques.
  • You are passionate about delivering end-to-end experiences across the stack and diving into new technologies.
  • You care about web technologies, exploring data, user experience and design and use all of that for building user-friendly web applications.
  • You have experience working directly with stakeholders to understand, document and develop APIs and systems to meet their requirements, driving increased adoption and reducing reliance on custom one-off implementations.
  • You can navigate through ambiguity and technical complexity, taking a pragmatic approach to problem solving on a holistic level.
  • You have some experience in backend development and/or data engineering.
  • You learn quickly and enjoy working closely together with your product team to bring value to your partners.
  • Experience in digital media advertising is a plus.

    Where You’ll Be

  • We’ve introduced Work From Anywhere to give you more options!
  • While we will ask you to pop into the office from time to time, we are giving you the flexibility to work from home should you choose to do so.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern time zone for collaboration
