Senior Tax Analyst

We’re looking for a new band member to join the Spotify Tax Team. This new band member will be a Senior Tax Analyst, joining the Global Corporate Tax Team. This position will report into the Senior Manager of Corporate Tax and is based in New York City, US.
In your role, you will be responsible for assisting Spotify’s domestic and global tax planning, tax compliance, as well as assisting with acquisitions and investments globally. You will collaborate with global tax team members and work cross functionally with finance and legal teams. You will use your passion for problem solving in an exciting non-routine, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will display a balance of hard and soft skills, including the ability to respond quickly to changing business needs.

What You’ll Do


  • Assist in managing the implementation of tax planning opportunities and drive process efficiencies related to domestic and foreign operations
  • Prepare and review US withholding tax calculations, annual information returns, and internal withholding tax procedures
  • Collaborate with Corp Development and Legal teams to develop and implement acquisition structuring and post-acquisition integration plans to optimize tax position
  • Collaborate with Tax reporting and compliance teams in preparing and/or reviewing direct tax calculations, including income, digital service taxes, and other ad-hoc taxes
  • Monitor US, state, and international tax legislation, analyze potential impacts/benefits, and help implement mitigation or action plans for the Company
  • Coordinate with 3rd party tax advisors on various tax projects and assist with information gathering
  • Become a strategic business partner, advising and guide domestic and international business teams in tax-related issues, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, and Treasury and prepare tax efficient cash utilization and cash collection across the global organization and guide tax cash forecasting models
  • Communicate tax advice on structuring acquisitions, legal entity set ups and revenue collection hubs and other global investment initiatives to various stakeholders
  • Research technical tax issues and prepare internal position memos and/or presentations
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the tax team as well as Accounting and other Spotify teams as needed.
  • Other projects as required or needed.

    Who You Are


  • 3-5 years of corporate tax experience, preferably Big 4 public accounting, industry, and/or law firm
  • Software/technology industry experience preferred
  • Experience in corporate tax law, IFRS accounting principles, M&A, transfer pricing and global operations
  • JD, CPA, or Masters in Taxation required
  • Excellent interpersonal/collaboration skills, in addition to excellent written, oral and presentation skills
  • Ability to quickly understand and integrate business objectives with tax strategies, and effectively communicate tax requirements to the business.
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent Excel/Google sheets knowledge
  • Experience with financial systems (NetSuite a plus): ERPs, consolidation tools and management reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of Robotics, Alteryx, Tableau a plus.
  • Available for potential travel opportunities when necessary.
