Senior Product Manager – Audiobooks and Gated Content

  • Full Time

In the past few months, Spotify announced two new feature sets to the world: Paid Subscriptions, which allows any podcaster to put content behind paywalls, and Spotify Open Access, which allows users to listen on Spotify to content that is paid for on third party sites and services. Both of these are in service of a much broader mission: enabling everyone to listen to all of the paid audio that exists in the world on Spotify, from podcasts to audiobooks and beyond. In the coming years, Spotify will redefine what it means for creators to monetize their work, as well as how listeners discover and gain access to that paid content. This is an exceptionally exciting and impactful new opportunity for Spotify, and will help craft the platform for years to come.

As we introduce our users to paid/gated content to Spotify, there are essential product considerations that touch across every part of the user experience, from how the content is discovered and recommended to how it is unlocked and consumed. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join the Future Formats team as a product lead responsible for developing end-to-end product strategy across all gated content (including Paid Subscriptions, Spotify Open Access, and Audiobooks) and ensure we build a cohesive and user-centric experience in the paid content space. This is a highly cross functional role that will work closely with other orgs to bridge the gap between creation, discovery, and consumption experiences.

What you’ll do

  • Drive the vision for end-to-end user journeys for how paid content is discovered, presented, and unlocked across Spotify platforms
  • Work closely with Creation Platform to develop the vision for the journey creators go through to enable Paid Subscription content on Spotify and other listening platforms
  • Work with teams of designers, engineers, PMs, insights, and growth strategists across the company to develop, test, and ship features and improvements to optimize consumer and creator flows at scale
  • Work with those teams to build a cohesive audiobooks strategy that takes into account how the content is discovered and recommended, as well as how it is unlocked and consumed
  • Partner closely with program management to plan, identify dependencies, and unblock where needed
  • Focus on execution and iteration, making sure your team is hitting regular milestones to help us constantly improve and learn
  • Become a key member of this organization’s Product team, defining and implementing the broader strategy on an organizational level and having direct impact across many Spotify platforms and features

    Who you are

  • You believe in learning by doing and in hitting milestones regularly
  • You are able to think systematically about how distributed disconnected needs may be adapted and come together to form a concrete and complete solution
  • You have an understanding of technically ambitious concepts that may have multiple moving parts and connections across the org
  • You are excellent at sorting out ambiguity and ensuring team members and partners alike have appropriate information and clear direction at all times
  • You are an excellent communicator and storyteller, engaging with your audience on a personal level
  • You are structured, and you enable those around you to maintain focus on the right things at the right time
  • You are persistent, rational, and put facts above speculation

    Where You’ll be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the EMEA region in which we have a work location and is within working hours.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Central European and GMT time zones for collaboration and ask that all be located in that time zone.
  • Prefer an office to work from home instead? Not a problem! We have plenty of options for your working preferences. Find more information about our Work From Anywhere options here.
