Spotify is looking for a highly motivated senior accountant to support the podcast accounting team. This is an amazing opportunity for someone seeking growth and challenges in one of the fastest growing areas at Spotify to help Spotify achieve its goal of being the #1 audio platform.
This person will be responsible for partnering with our Payments team, Content organization, and Financial Engineering team to help drive scale and efficiency in our accounting and payments processes, particularly to content creators. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years experience within an accounting and/or payments function in the tech, entertainment, media, or music industry. The position is based in New York City.
What You’ll Do
Assist with the implementation and management of payment solutions for our growing podcast business; this includes new initiatives, acquisitions, and global expansion
Facilitate content creator payouts workflow; ensure payments and reports are delivered consistently, accurately and on time in accordance with company policies & procedures, and in compliance with local statutory and tax requirements
Manage external vendors and/or creators inquiries including but not limited to vendor set up, payments, and tax compliance
Assist with month end close responsibilities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliation, and fluxes
Responsible for tracking Podcast Talent deals and recording associated cost in accordance with contract
Work cross functionally with the studios team to establish best practices and policies around expenses and payments
Manage podcast operating expenses including variance analysis
Collaborate with AP, Invoice To Pay, Financial Engineering, Tax, and Internal Audit to refine current payment processes and procedures
Other responsibilities include but not limited new business initiative support, ad hoc analyses and participate in special projects as assigned
Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Minimum of 4 years in a similar accounting role within the tech, media, entertainment, or music industry
Big 4 experience preferred
Experience with payment solutions and/or mass payments
Experience with major ERP and/or financial payment systems (Oracle, SAP, Netsuite, Coupa, Hyperwallet, Paypal, Stripe)
Excellent time, self-management, and project management skills and ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines required
Strong excel and/or google sheets skills
Comfortable working in a fast paced and constantly changing environment
Previous experience with SOX
