Legal Counsel – Litigation

We are seeking to recruit an exceptional candidate to join our Litigation & Legal Risk team in Stockholm as a Legal Counsel. In this role, you will provide legal and strategic advice relating to ongoing litigation, regulatory and other contentious matters that have an impact on Spotify in the EU and around the globe. The position will be based in Stockholm, but you will work in a global context.

In this role, you will help guide and execute the company’s legal strategy across a wide range of contentious issues and relevant regulatory areas in jurisdictions worldwide (ex North America). You will work with legal, business, and other experts to help drive, formulate and shape the company’s position in ongoing matters as well as in connection with proactive advice!


What you’ll do


  • Lead all aspects of litigation, pre-litigation, regulatory, and other contentious matters in multiple practice areas and jurisdictions across the world (outside of North America).
  • Coordinate internally and externally, conduct legal and factual research and liaise with non-legal stakeholders.
  • Develop case strategy and negotiate amicable resolution of disputes.
  • Manage a broad portfolio of matters globally across a wide variety of legal areas.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on dispute avoidance and resolution.
  • Handle requests for information from the company, including requests from law enforcement authorities.
  • Take an active part in the creation of scalable processes to efficiently deal with various types of claims.
  • You will work out of the Stockholm Office.

    Who you are


  • Law degree from a reputable university and a strong academic record.
  • 5+ years of litigation experience at a top tier law firm or in-house and a track record of efficient dispute management individually and as part of a team.
  • Passion for legal problems and extremely effective written and oral communication skills in English and your first language. You can explain legal concepts to non-lawyers.
  • Curious and flexible and open to learning and embracing to various areas of law and case management practices in various contexts and jurisdictions.
  • Willing to dig in on projects and you do so with diligence and commitment to consistent high quality.
  • Creative problem solver, and can stay calm when problems come your way.
  • Efficiently handle many simultaneous tasks and matters and adequately triage matters.
  • Good judgment – you think a problem through when you need to, but you can also trust your gut.
  • Team player committed to integrity and collegiality.

  • You will work out of the Stockholm Office.
  • Our offices are currently closed due to COVID-19. 
  • Working hours? We operate within the Central European time zone for collaboration
