HR Specialist – Labor Relations & Studios

We are looking for an Labor Relations & HR Specialist  to join our HR team! This is a new role in the HR team and will be central to ensuring HR operational efficiency for our unionized US-based Studios organization. This role will work closely with the broader HR Specialist team and the HR Business Partner team to ensure the effective support of our employees, the delivery of global project work, and organization-specific process improvements. The day-to-day work of this role will support all stages of the employee lifecycle for employees including delivery of employee onboarding, facilitating training, working to resolve employee queries, and partnering with managers to understand team needs and to resolve labor relations issues. You will also own the administration of collective bargaining agreements for Studios employees and serve as the main point of contact for all union-related inquiries and tasks. 


What you’ll do


  • Provide HR support for the Studios organization, acting as the first point of contact for employees and managers
  • Own the administration of collective bargaining agreements and all related inquiries for our union population, including report management, grievance research and all union-specific processes and practices
  • Support counsel in the negotiation and renegotiation of collective bargaining agreements
  • Manage orientation and onboarding for new employees in United States
  • Partner closely with the Employment Legal team as necessary
  • Be the local specialist providing hands-on labor relations advice, training and support for the region
  • Partner with HR Business Partners 
  • Maintain positive labor relations across all organized studios
  • Partner with managers to understand and resolve local issues
  • Working with the business to develop proactive solutions to recurring team challenges
  • Supporting processes through the employee life cycle including performance development, organizational change, and conduct issues
  • Delivering training to support manager development
  • Reviewing HR processes and suggesting changes to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Completing regular audits and any necessary admin responsibilities
  • You will work out of the NYC or CA offices

    Who you are


  • You have experience working in an HR Generalist, HR Specialist, People Operations, or HR Manager role in a labor relations capacity
  • Global experience working with international counterparts for an organization that has offices around the world
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of US labor law
  • Experience working with US-based unions and/or guilds and a familiarity with collective  bargaining agreements and union populations
  • You are able to gain the trust of employees, managers and executives at all levels and maintain a high degree of integrity;
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Ability to work collaboratively, being inclusive of all partners
  • Ability to work independently and comfortable working in a distributed setting
  • Ability to productively challenge and influence other teams and managers
  • Ability to prioritize well and be flexible in a fast-paced environment with changing demands
  • Experience with road managing project managing resources to ensure successful completion of objectives
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Demonstrates a solution-focused approach to problem-solving, with the ability to find pragmatic outcomes
  • Able to demonstrate a commercial approach to handling HR issues
