The role will support the global consumer and brand communications organization by leading proactive storytelling efforts grounded in trends and culture, as well as coordinating major brand moments, special projects and campaigns.
You will have a finger on the pulse, identifying relevant and exciting trends and cultural moments, leveraging data to tell larger stories about how the world is connecting with Spotify. You’ll also bring a deep understanding of the consumer, entertainment and culture media space and understand how to make impact by leveraging strong press relationships and developing creative storytelling moments.
As Brand & Culture Storyteller, you are encouraged to be a creative and strategic thinker, have outstanding writing and problem-solving skills and must be able to work collaboratively across multiple teams, organizations, and geographies.
You’ll bring a track record for telling outstanding stories with thoughtful strategy, supporting viral moments and campaigns, and are attuned to cultural trends at large. You have solid experience supporting Marketing and Social partners and other key company leaders to amplify stories and campaigns, using Spotify insights into upcoming campaigns and marketing efforts and owned channels.
This role will be a direct report to Spotify’s Global Head of Consumer Brand & Culture, PR & Communications. This role is based in New York, NY, and we’ll expect you to pop into the NYC office a few days each week.
What you’ll do:
Serve as a trend and culture expert to drive cultural relevance for the brand and champion authentic brand love
Be immersed in emerging trends in order to develop creative and compelling ideas that help keep Spotify on the cutting edge of public conversation and inspire consumers
Proactively identify and implement ground-up, PR-driven campaigns that increase brand awareness through earned media, owned channels and influencer
Build and maintain significant relationships with key press across the consumer, lifestyle and culture space
Partner closely with internal data resources to deeply understand consumer behavior and leverage insights to build storylines that demonstrate how the world is connecting with audio on Spotify
Identify new ways to storytell in the digital world, whether that’s through influencers, social channels or emerging platforms
Drive innovation by continually pushing the boundaries of our creative programs into new and relevant areas
Lead comms planning and execution for owned brand moments, special projects and campaigns
Build messaging for Spotify’s key spokespeople and talent for key consumer announcements
Stay abreast of news in the entertainment, technology and podcasting space
Strategically evaluate communications opportunities, understanding risks and benefits to the brand
Support global communications and marketing initiatives with data and insights
Work with key collaborators across the company to educate and guide our strategy and approach
Work closely with the Global Head of Consumer Brand & Culture, PR & Communications to build objectives, consistency and guardrails across the markets
Lead agency support by providing briefs, direction and ongoing mentorship
Lead and attend weekly meetings
Who you are:
6+ years relevant communications experience in public relations, journalism or communications
Passionate about global culture and trends
Strong understanding of the consumer media landscape and relevant relationships is crucial
Extensive experience with communications supporting a global company
Consistent record of developing and implementing critical communications plans and influencer campaigns
Motivated self-starter with hands-on work style
Excellent presentation skills
Strong project management skills
Ability to multitask and work in a hectic and very fast paced industry and environment
Collaborative individual who enjoys partnering closely across teams and departments to create and distribute the most impactful communications possible
Strong strategic thinker and resourceful problem-solver
Ability to balance short- and long-term priorities
