Senior Technical Program Manager

Samsara

Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, which allows businesses that depend on physical operations to harness IoT (Internet of Things) data to develop actionable business insights and improve their operations. Founded in San Francisco in 2015, we now employ more than 1,800 people globally and have over 1.5 million active devices. Samsara also went public in December 2021 and we’re just getting started.

Recent awards we’ve won include:

  • #2 in the Financial Times’ Fastest Growing Companies in Americas list 2021
  • Named as a Best Place to Work in Built In 2022
  • #19 in the Forbes Cloud 100 2021
  • IoT Analytics Company of the Year in 2022’s IoT Breakthrough Winners
  • Forbes Advisor named us the Best Solution for Large Companies – Fleet management software for 2022!

We're driving change in industries that are yet to fully embrace digital transformation. Physical operations make up a massive slice of the global economy but haven’t benefited from innovation and actionable information in the way that other sectors have. The potential for scale and impact is huge.

About the role:

The Connected Apps team at Samsara builds and evolves apps used by Samsara customers to work more efficiently, and we need a technical program manager to help us scale as the company grows. We are launching several new products over the coming years and we need someone who thrives in the uncertainty of early-stage product ideas. We are working closely with our customers to build tools they can use to work more efficiently and effectively, which means we need enough structure to keep the project moving, but to be adaptable enough to change our plans as needs change.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate Product, Engineering, Design, to build new products for Samsara customers, iterating quickly to incorporate customer feedback into the plan.
  • Work with Engineering managers and engineers to create and maintain a 6-12 month road map.
  • Create an app release process that lets us balance delivering features quickly with holding a high quality standard for our products.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 5+ years of full-time technical program management experience in a software engineering organization managing programs at scale, or equivalent experience
  • B.S. degree or equivalent, in a technical field

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Proven success on establishing organization-wide processes and communication framework for R&D initiatives
  • 2+ years of hands-on software development experience a plus
  • Direct work experience in a technical project management capacity to drive large technical initiatives including all aspects of process development and execution
  • Knowledge of complex technical ecosystems and adequate technical depth
  • Direct experience working with software engineering leadership, technical teams and individual contributors
  • Ability to quickly adapt to faster pace, shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience in Agile Methods through multiple teams (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and processes

At Samsara, we welcome everyone regardless of their background, race, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, disability, age, etc. We depend on the unique approaches of our team members to help us solve complex problems.
