As Manager, Technical Revenue Accounting, you will serve as a key technical expert over ASC 605 and ASC 606 revenue accounting. You will be responsible for directing the company’s revenue accounting function, focusing on revenue recognition, revenue operations, deal review and maintaining revenue accounting policies and procedures. You will be responsible for conducting and maintaining processes that are efficient, transparent, and result in the production of accurate financial statement results. The Manager, Technical Revenue Accounting will report to the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting and will lead the Revenue Operations Team. You will interact regularly with employees and our external auditors and work collaboratively with Legal, IT, Sales Operations, and Billing Operations.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage the revenue recognition research efforts and stay abreast of changes/updates to revenue accounting standards. Proactively communicate any potential impact to revenue recognition policies and provide suggested solutions
  • Advise the business on accounting treatment under ASC 605 and ASC 606
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for all revenue recognition policies and standard operating procedures
  • Manage, coach, and develop the Revenue Operations Team
  • Oversee the application of revenue recognition to the general ledger ensuring accuracy of revenue-related transactions and compliance with US GAAP, including the review of all changes to existing and new contracts
  • Oversee the revenue monthly close process and ensure the accuracy and completeness over the relevant revenue reporting
  • Develop and maintain internal controls over revenue accounting operations
  • Facilitate revenue recognition discussions with external auditors and ensure proper sign-off of US GAAP application
  • Serve as Project Lead for revenue operations integration for M&A transactions as applicable
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years relevant experience (public accounting, industry, or mix) 
  • 2+ years direct employee management 
  • Experience with software/SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606 
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel Skills (basic pivot tables, lookup formulas, IF formulas) 
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Mix of previous Big 4 and industry experience (5+ years) 
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, specifically ASC 605 and ASC 606 in a software/SaaS environment 
  • Experience with Intacct and/or Zuora, Salesforce a plus 
  • Ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced team environment 
  • Excellent communication andcollaboration skills
