As a Learning Designer Program Manager at Okta, Inc., you will play a critical role in building out the learning and development ecosystem within Okta University. We see this role as an opportunity to contribute greatly to the company’s culture of learning and actively influence the way things are done. The successful candidate will have experience effectively and efficiently managing the logistics of learning programs, as well as designing, developing and implementing impactful programs, while working collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders.  

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish, and continuously improve, practices, processes, and tools to ensure organized project management for multiple programs.
  • Manage programs from end-to-end while providing consistent communication with stakeholders, teammates, and leadership regarding timelines and milestones.
  • Thrive in a fast-moving environment with the ability to prioritize work while still maintaining positive relationships. 
  • Conduct learning needs assessments in partnership with Sr. Learning Partners to understand learning and capability requirements to build the design strategy.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Learning Partners to develop innovative learning solutions to support various learning programs.
  • Produce design strategy for programs & initiatives driven by Okta University.
  • Develop dynamic and impactful learning through multiple delivery channels: synchronous and asynchronous, Digital formats, and Hybrid.
  • Design (inclusive of editing, updating and properly formatting) compelling course content that ensures alignment with key learning objectives and enhances learner knowledge and retention.
  • Create engaging learning activities and develop interactive media including audio, video, interactions, animation and simple gamification.
  • Providing instructional design guidance to other Instructional Designers during design, development, and pilot phases of projects.
  • Providing technical expertise to ensure successful program content, designs, and materials
  • Leverage the capabilities of Google Suite, Articulate Rise and Storyline, including multimedia to improve the learners experience.
  • Convert existing learning materials from ILT to VILT, eLearning or Instructional videos.
  • Reviewing and evaluating existing programs to make recommendations for enhancements, revisions, and re-design.
  • Manage one-off requests for vendor-led coaching and mentoring engagements, 360 Leadership Survey requests, and team development engagements. 
  • Own creation of quarterly business review updates for courses and programs. Partner with Okta University Technology team and HR Analytics to help develop predictive analytics to help OktaU proactively address business needs.  
  • Partner with OktaU Learning Partners on pilots and ongoing evaluation to determine (and implement) necessary improvements.
  • Maintain inventory of course materials. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • 3-5 years of program management experience
  • 1-2 years experience in L&D or talent development at a global organization
  • Experience working in the technology industry & working remotely to HQ, as well as working across multiple global regions and cultures. 
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills. A flair for writing – concise and structured. Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work seamlessly with a variety of personalities and functional disciplines
  • Formal knowledge of instructional design and curriculum management
  • Knowledge of and practical application of Adult Learning Theory and instructional design principles.
  • Data-driven decision and sound business judgment through strong logic & creative thinking and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Skilled in at least 2 tiers of the Adobe Creative Cloud, SCORM and HTML5.
  • BA/BS degree
