About the Senior Generalist, People Operations at Headspace:

As the Senior Generalist, People Operations you will have the opportunity to help build People Operations from the ground up, learn and implement cutting edge HR practices and gain exciting career growth across all pillars of People Operations.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, People Operations, this individual is a critical point of contact for employees with HR-related needs and a highly integral team member for the employee experience from onboarding to offboarding. 
They will be a key hands-on partner & voice on the People Team; contributing to and supporting our People  Business Partners within designated functions in general day-to-day operations, change management, communication, employee engagement, belonging & inclusion; and a collaborative partner in the many facets and sub-functions of People Operations. This support role will be a champion for development of an organization that operates as one company & one team.
Location: We have tow Senior Generalist roles available. One will support our east-coast and international employees. To set this role up for success, this position is tied to one of our east-coast, US states; Florida, Georgia, Maryland + Washington DC, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and Ohio.

The second role will support our west-coast employees and to set this role up for success is tied to one of our west-coast, US states; California, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Washington.

  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact to team members and managers across various client groups and locations; Supporting and administering day-to-day People Ops processes & systems – Ensure the consistent application of HR policies, processes, and systems within the business
  • Maintain accurate and timely employee files, execute employee movement processes and administration including onboarding, off-boarding, Transfers, New Hire Orientation, IT partnership, immigration/visa sponsorship, HR Compliance, Employee Compliance Training, Worker’s Compensation, and Leaves of Absence accurately and ensuring compliance with all current employment law
  • Perform effective management & work allocation from the HR Employee Services mailbox, ensuring prompt and accurate responses are provided within SLA.
  • Partner with People Business Partners to prepare, support & action team-specific people and talent strategies (HPORs, Performance & Promotions Cycles, etc.) and ensure employee and business needs are met – Support HRBPs with various employee relations matters. Provide guidance with general leave, benefits, and policy questions
  • Perform HRIS activities to include: transfer, promotions, and manager changes – Regularly run standard and ad-hoc reports and analyses using the Company’s HRIS — track, manage and audit HRIS data integrity
  • Track key POPs performance metrics that drive and showcase the success of our service offering — as well as core People metrics to provide proactive, actionable, and impactful insights that help improve our organizational effectiveness and company health
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Manager, People Operations, ensure all company policies, procedures & compliance requirements)  are up to date in line with current local, national (state/federal) &  international employment laws & regulations. Ensuring people leaders are up to date with changes to any policies
  •  In partnership with Total Rewards team members,  support the coordination of benefit enrollments for new employees, notify employees of participation eligibility and assist with new-hire orientations; helping administer and maintain employee benefit programs such as health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, and retirement plans.
  • Assist in designing People Ops Team or org-facing materials by ensuring these are up-to-date and relevant to provide a seamless experience for employees
  • Assist with HR policy development & implementation, and completing HR compliance health checks as assigned
  • Continue to build upon your knowledge and expertise in providing client-facing support to employees on questions about People Team programs and resources to drive engagement and high performance
  • Stay current on HR technologies and best practices and seek ways to improve employee experience and our administrative efficiency

    What you’ve accomplished:


  • Minimum 5  years experience on a People Operations Team
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high growth work environment is highly desired (start-up experience is a must)
  • Experience implementing operational HR programs (ie onboarding, offboarding, immigration/visa sponsorship, and HRIS maintenance), and proactively makes recommendations for changes as appropriate
  • Recommended policy and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the People Operations team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the HR field, including an understanding of federal, state, and local employment regulations
  • Experience in international HR best practices (particularly in Europe) and UK employment/labor law is highly preferred
  • High level of discretion and ability to follow confidentiality protocols both inside and outside the company
  • Self-motivated, data-driven, strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience partnering with a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, dynamic, high-velocity situations
  • Ability to navigate in complexity and build new processes drawing insights from data to make decisions
  • Strong customer service skills; ability to explain complex People issues to non-HR team members in an easy to understand manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in a wide variety of systems and tools (HRIS, ATS, Google Suite, Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
