Director, Global Compensation

Databricks is seeking a leader for our growing global compensation team who will enable us to scale.  You will own the strategy and implementation of key processes, programs, and policies that enable the people team to operate effectively and create an employee experience that enables our employees to do the best work of their careers.

You will report to the Head of Total Rewards in our People team. You will manage the Compensation team, hire additional team members, and be an essential partner to our global leadership team and people team. 

Mission

Set the vision for Databricks’ compensation team while developing, implementing, and managing our global compensation strategy. As the Director of Global Compensation, you will provide leadership in designing and implementing compensation programs as Databricks scales, and contribute to the overall strategic direction and alignment of all compensation programs within our total rewards strategy.

Outcomes

  • Design partnership and implementation of compensation programs that align with the company’s strategic goals, values and support a high-performance culture through strategic partnership with our leadership team
  • Lead, manage and evaluate the implementation, oversight and management of our global compensation programs, policies, plans and processes
  • Drive system improvements, automate key aspects of the compensation lifecycle to create highly efficient,  scalable and duplicative processes
  • Oversee the development of incentive plans for the company, ensuring that they are designed to drive employee performance in line with business objectives, are market competitive, legally sound, and managed/administered accurately and effectively
  • Drive the build of our compensation foundation as we continue our global expansion and provide regional support and infrastructure across AMER, EMEA and APJ
  • Set the tone of pay parity and pay fairness through ownership of our ongoing pay parity review process

Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Math or a related field and at least 10+ years of experience focused on building, developing and scaling programs, globally
  • Authentic, inspiring and hands on leader who has previously built, led and managed a team with at least 5-10 direct reports with a proven track record of hiring, developing, and deploying top talent at all levels and an equal ability to consistently top-grade the organization
  • Worked in large enterprise companies as well as smaller early stage growth companies and possess a balance of strategy and hands-on execution experience
  • Can clearly translate vision into executable strategy, have a keen ability to deliver against a plan with a strong bias for action, and have a proven track record for designing, driving, managing and scaling compensation programs through policies, processes, and systems
  • Possess deep listening and exceptional stakeholder management skills; you pride yourself on being an effective communicator and building strong relationships that serve as one of the foundations of your leadership
  • Strong business acumen, data analysis skills and a deep understanding of  equity/stock compensation
  • Skilled at change management and have the agility to adapt in an evolving business while staying focused on the anchors of your goals and the Total Rewards strategy
