The Senior Technical Payroll Analyst position is a remote role or can be based in our HQ, San Mateo office and reports to the Payroll Systems and Tax Manager. The role is responsible for supporting various payroll configurations, for administration of the US & Canada Payroll Tax operations, accuracy of the payroll system data to deliver the company’s semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls and managing analytics. The role will also support global payroll reporting using Ceridian. This position will be a key employee resource for payroll matters and will perform other related duties as required.
Manage payroll analytics/reporting requests (both internal and external)
Manage the payroll integrations, in conjunction with the HR Systems Analyst (such as Benefits files, 401k and loan files, bonus, Payroll input files (global))
Be responsible for System Integrations between HR and Payroll Systems including resolving errors
Be responsible for timely handling US & Canada Tax notices with Payroll vendor support
Be responsible for requesting new Tax ID and updating systems with new ID or Tax rates
Support the Global team with monthly, quarterly and year end tax forms (annual filings)
Support the Payroll team with State and Local Tax setup including reciprocity validations
Partner with the HR Analyst and Global Payroll Manager(s) on the implementation of new technology to streamline Payroll Processing for US and Global
Be responsible for testing new system set up, functional system enhancements, system updates and integrations
Collaborate with multiple business teams and build strong relationships
Identify and participate in process improvement projects, including various implementation and upgrades
Improve payroll processes for automation and scalability
Document and maintain Payroll Standard Operating Procedure
Assist US Payroll Manager with reporting for annual audits (i.e. 401k , Worker’s Comp, SOX audit)
Participate in various payroll projects and other opportunities as assigned
Minimum 4+ years’ experience in US payroll tax administration
Canada payroll experience, a plus
Strong payroll systems technical experience
Working knowledge with Ceridian, a plus
Strong understanding of Payroll accounting procedures
Proficient in MS Excel including advanced formulas functions (Vlookups, Pivot tables, IF statements)
4+ years of payroll experience and knowledgeable of wage and hourly laws
Strong analytical-report writer experience using xml
Experience with federal, state, local statutory and various payroll audits support
Knowledge of SOX controls
CPP certification preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills with high attention to details
Able to stay flexible and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail, organization, and possesses a sense of urgency
Exercises sound judgement in decision-making situations
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
