Coupa Software is looking for a Commissions Manager to join our Sales Commissions team. The Commissions Manager is a dynamic position that will play a vital role in administering the end-to-end global sales commissions plan: from generating the annual incentive compensation plan structure to analyzing the impact of sales program incentives and orchestrating the monthly commissions calculations. This role will partner closely with Coupa’s Finance and Sales Operations teams, while also becoming a trusted advisor to our Sales organization. The position will be supported by the Director of FP&A, will work closely with our VP of Sales Operations and is located in our San Mateo, CA headquarters.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the Commissions team in the monthly commission cycle, while ensuring both accuracy and timely completion of the calculation
  • Review the commission calculations to ensure compliance with the commission plan, while supporting the exception request process in collaboration with operations and sales leadership.
  • Manage the creation and execution of individual sales compensation plans for new employees and market segment/sales role transfers in a dynamic environment
  • Become the subject matter expert in determining annual quotas, creating compensation structures and reviewing the impact of ad-hoc sales program incentives to analyze the effectiveness of compensation plans to appropriately incentivize the business to align with corporate objectives
  • Partner with Finance and Sales Operations in maintaining monthly commission reporting and modeling outcomes
  • Providing clarity and feedback to Sales teams on ad-hoc commission-related questions
  • Ability to meet tight timelines around the monthly close process
  • Partner with the broader organization to drive process and systematic improvements across the Company

    Requirements:

     

  • 4+ years of experience in sales incentive compensation planning roles with direct responsibility of preparing sales compensation calculations and at least a year of experience managing plans
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or related fields
  • Strong analytical background with the ability to creatively solve problems with math and a data-driven approach
  • General understanding of GAAP accounting rules related to deferred commissions and ASC 606
  • Self-starter capable of driving business results without significant supervision
  • Ability to deal with conflict, and manage expectations
  • Experience with enterprise software tools (CRM, ERP, Incentive calculation software)
  • Experience managing a team is a plus
