Director, Regulatory Change at Checkout.com: 

Checkout.com is seeking a Regulatory Change Director with a strong regulatory background to join our Legal team. The role is focused on establishing and operating a specialist horizon scanning function and its necessary related internal processes. The remit of the role will cover all existing and upcoming regulatory and legal changes applicable in the multiple geographies where Checkout.com operates.

 

About you:

 

  • Lawyer with 6+ years of post-graduate or post-qualification experience, with strong background in legal, compliance, or risk departments with a focus on regulation and regulatory change.
  • Broad understanding of the regulatory environment in the financial services industry, fintech and/or banking.
  • Detailed understanding of electronic money and payment institutions an advantage.
  • Able to translate regulatory language into requirements for internal colleagues in alignment with best practice.
  • Energised by building a new function and establishing new processes, information sources and reporting.
  • Strong legal and compliance mind-set: you aspire to a culture of excellence.
  • Good relationship builder with strong diplomacy skills, able to adopt a consultative style in order to combine the business perspective and regulatory aspects.
  • Analytical mindset and risk and compliance oriented. You know how to break down complex regulatory matters into manageable pieces and to address logical links and dependencies, distinguishing essential information and summarising it accordingly.
  • You examine matters from a distance and put them in a broader context and time perspective.
  • Express well-founded opinions and positions and understand their consequences.
  • Excellent time management skills and experience managing a diverse workload and competing stakeholder demands.
  • Extra marks if you have:
  • Experience working internationally and on a variety of cross-border matters.
  • Additional language skills.

    What you will be doing:

     

  • Identifying relevant information from databases (information providers, government sites, etc.) and forums.
  • Analysing draft laws, regulations, guidelines and external requirements applicable to Checkout.com in various jurisdictions.
  • Compiling, sorting, storing and disseminating the information collected in dedicated tools.
  • Communicating relevant legal change briefings to colleagues.
  • Collaborate with regulatory specialists from the Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs teams.
  • Support colleagues to make any required changes to our business and also consider any changes needed from a policy, control and risk management perspective, based on your analysis and interpretations of regulations.
