About the Team
The Financial Operations (FinOps) team is the engine room of the Canva Finance Team, supporting all transactional activities and processes supporting Canva, as well as being the owner of the month end close process. The function makes sure all financial information is provided accurately and in a timely fashion, enabling Canva to continue to press ahead with our ambitious growth plans and enabling our teams to make the best financial decisions.We’re a highly diverse team, with members based all over Australia, Philippines and Europe and we love being able to work together remotely, as well as getting together where possible! The work we do has a huge impact in crafting the day to day and future operations of Canva, supporting the business at scale.
Who we’re looking for
Canva is looking for a Senior team member, a Lead, to support and drive the growth of the Accounting team processes at Canva. In doing so you will build strong relationships with our General Ledger / Shared Services team and provide support to the Corporate Accounting and Commercial Finance Teams. You will have a proven technical accountant background, enjoy problem solving, have proven team leadership skills and know how to operate in a high growth environment. You are adaptable and have a strong appetite in learning new knowledge. This role would suit an individual who is a true teammate, enjoys collaborating and rallying the team towards achieving its goals and is always willing to lend a hand to your colleagues for the collective good. Your values and interpersonal approach will be a metric of success for this role.
What you’ll do
Be the lead of a growing team of General Ledger Accountants
Support and coach the existing team with personal and technical growth and development
Be a key driving force for operational improvement; identify opportunities for automation, standardisation, and overall process improvement
Lead and oversee the month end and year end close numbers across the wider Accounting Team
Ad hoc involvement in wider finance / cross functional team projects and building strong relationships with the Corporate, Controllership, Technical Accounting and Finance Systems teams
We’d love it if you had
CA/CPA (or equivalent qualification) Qualified
Experience in a General Ledger Accounting / Financial Accounting Role with knowledge and experience in transactional processing, reporting and related month-end processes
Team management experience, coaching more junior staff members and driving their ongoing development
A passion for the Creative or Design industry and prior experience within a SaaS start-up business would be advantageous
Self motivated with a strong desire to turn chaos into clarity
Experience in project management, including working with cross-functional teams
Strong ability to quickly identify both risks and opportunities, while maintaining a focus on both process improvements and results
Advanced Excel & Google Sheet skills, experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite (a real plus!), Xero, SAP, Oracle, Workday Financials
