About the Team
This opportunity sits within the People Group. The People Group’s mission is to create the most effective and engaged company in the world. The People Operations team is responsible for providing advice and support to our employees from onboarding through to offboarding, working closely with a wide variety of stakeholders such as IT, Finance, Legal, and leaders to deliver exceptional employee experiences. You will join a small but might Projects and Compliance team, which is relatively newly formed and growing, and will autonomously own multiple complex projects spanning all different areas of business impact.

Across the entire employee lifecycle, from onboarding all the way to offboarding, and everything in between, the People Operations team fuels Canva’s hyper-growth by delivering seamless, scalable, and delightful employee experiences.
You’ll thrive in a fast-moving, fluid environment, supporting the day-to-day delivery of HR operational needs, as well as leading and driving impactful projects. This could be things like developing and rolling out new and critical people policies, launching a new Canva entity in a location we haven’t operated in before, supporting members of our team impacted by recent world events or launching new technologies that will improve our employee experience even further. The majority of your work will impact our global team, see you working across multiple regions, collaborating with many different stakeholders and include a high degree of leadership and project management. If your sweet spot is at the intersection of people, process and technology, and you get a kick out of delivering value to customers, streamlining processes and problem solving for scale, this is the role for you.
What You’ll Do
Provide advice and support to our employees from pre-employment through to offboarding, serving as the point of escalation for our People Shared Services team.
Create and maintain new HR policies, processes and resources for employees, ensuring anything we develop is fast, scalable and repeatable as we continue to grow and scale globally.
Lead and support a wide range of people programs, such as; evolving our global people portal, system related acquisition and integration work, improving the employee experience and collaborating closely with colleagues across the whole People team, from TA to Rewards.
Support Canva’s growth in new locations and acquisitions, and work with our global teams to ensure alignment across our offices.
Drive change management of global initiatives and resources to support and care for our team.
Proactively identify inefficiencies and continually drive process improvements.
What We’re Looking for
Proven experience in an HR or People Operations role is a must
Experience working on global expansions, acquisitions and in a rapid scaling business is desirable
Experience using an HRIS system, Workday preferred
Experience in Australia is a must, experience working across regions with a geographically dispersed HR team is highly desirable.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to balance the needs of the business and the employees while maintaining compliance.
Comfortable working in highly ambiguous situations, with a proven ability to come up with scalable solutions for time-sensitive matters.
