About the role and team

As the Head of Internal Communications, you’ll lead a small team that will be the lifeline that keeps Canvanauts (Canva employees)  connected worldwide. Through your leadership, you will build the strategies and structure needed to disseminate the right information, to the right audiences, through the right channels at all times. It is a critical function that not only keeps employees informed, but it also reinforces inclusion, a sense of belonging and company pride. You’ll be an integral part of our People leadership team, working closely with various internal teams to ensure our unique culture, mission and values come to life. 

We’re looking for a strategic player who is constantly working to bridge communication between Canvanauts and the business at large. This is a role for someone excited by the opportunity to build, structure and optimise our global internal communications function.   

You must have exceptional written, visual and verbal communication skills, the ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and a passion for rallying people around a single unified plan.  While this role will be building the long term vision of the team and internal comms function, the ability to roll up your sleeves when required will be essential.

Reporting into the Head of People, you’ll bring global experience to build and lead our internal comms team, partnering with leaders and team members across our global offices to drive impact and clarity across our global team of over 3,000. 

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Set a vision, design a strategy, and align the Internal Comms organisation to drive priorities which closely align the broader organisational goals by developing long term internal communications strategies and goals; proactively identifying gaps and opportunities.
  • Partner closely with various People oriented functions, including People Operations and People Experience, to be in lock step with larger employee and culture goals towards our company mission. You will also collaborate across the organisation with teams such as Corporate Communications, Events, Engineering, Product, Design and our regional offices worldwide to ensure clear messaging cascades through the organisation.
  • Bring our Celebration of Diversity work to life through thoughtful and inclusive programs, partnering with our internal Canva Communities

    What we’re looking for

     

  • You have 10+ years experience in Communications 
  • 5+ years experience leading global communications teams
  • You have aligned and led global teams with detailed written and visual communications
  • You are able to grow, inspire and coach impactful teams
  • You have navigated complex stakeholder environments to drive tangible business outcomes
  • Exceptional at planning, organising, prioritising, and executing simultaneous projects
  • Tenacity for impact, execution and delivery with scalability
